Gerald D. McCoy, 70, of Frederick, formerly of Brimfield, passed away at 4:16 p.m. on Friday, November 20, 2009, at his daughter’s home in Peoria.

Gerald was born in Elmwood on December 15, 1938, a son of Edward F. and Helen (Pollack) McCoy. He married Janice A. Jordan on June 27, 1964 in Peoria. She preceded him in death on November 1, 1975 in Bradford. He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Robert, Carl and Edward Joe McCoy.

He is survived by his son, Mark (Jeannie) McCoy of Macon, GA; daughters, Tammy McCoy of Peoria and Kathy (Michael) Krulac of Bartonville; sister, Betty (Steve) Adami of Dunlap; granddaughters, Nichole (Walter) Frazier of Beardstown, Maryssa and Morgan McCoy of Fairbury and Brooke Johnson of Bartonville; grandsons, Marshall McCoy of Fort Drum, NY and Zeke Krulac of Bartonville; and his beloved dogs, Katybug and Chemo.

Gerald was a US Navy veteran and was honorably discharged on November 9, 1959. He was formerly employed with Illinois Bell Telephone and attended the First Baptist Church of Littleton.

He was a woodsman and enjoyed being outdoors, gardening, chopping wood, collecting Pabst Blue Ribbon memorabilia and coins. He loved old Country music, especially Hank Williams, Sr. and George Jones, raccoons and his dogs.

Gerald was the best listener, gave good advice and could always cheer you up. He always waved and said, “Hello”, to everyone. He will be remembered for always making jokes, loving life and for being friendly to everyone and a loving father.

Graveside services and interment will be at 2 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009, at Oak Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 428 West McClure Avenue, in Peoria.

I have alot of memories of my grandpa. But I will never forget what he has taught me Never give up on life not even if your dying. He was the best grandpa I could ever ask for. He took care of me most of my life and I could never repay that back to him like I tired. I love you grandpa very much.

I try not to think of this as a 'goodbye', but more of an 'I'll see you later'.  I know your in heaven and one day we will see you again. But until then there won't be a day we don't think of you and miss you. Love you 'Papa'!

On behalf of the staff at West Central Bank in Rushville, I extend our deepest sympathies. We all were saddened by the news of Geralds passing. He was such a nice and friendly man. We all enjoyed his visits and he never left without saying hello to all. He will truly be missed.   I remember the GOOD pickles he made one year and shared with us. He really liked to talk garden.  God bless you. You are all in our thoughts and prayers.
